Worthing Museum and Art Gallery can provide young people with the opportunity to come and work with us. The options we offer are:
- Helping the curators - this includes putting up exhibitions and research into our collections
- Assisting the front of house staff - here applicants will be required to work in the museum shop and to provide the public with any necessary assistance
Any openings for a work experience placement will be advertised here, the dates of which will be strategically planned in order to coincide with a busy period or change of exhibition in The Museum. As we can receive many applications, for this reason we do conduct interviews in order to ensure that we select the people who will most benefit from a place. Successful candidates will need to demonstrate enthusiasm and specify in which area of the museum they wish to work.
For anyone over 18, placements can last for 2 weeks or one day a week for up to 6 months and references from a college or university will be required.
The successful applicants will be supervised at all times. All of the museum staff and the volunteers have been CRB checked.
Unfortunately we are not able to offer young people under the age of 18 work experience nor are we able to offer a placement on dates other than are advertised. However, should you wish to provide us with your contact details, to keep on record for future openings, we are more than happy to do this. Any personal information will be held in accordance with the Data protection Act.
